Be Contemporary
Use color in your promotional pieces. Take advantage of technology
to produce professional-looking materials. Check grammar,
spelling and punctuation. Find a way to produce materials
that present your Sertoma club as a contemporary organization
consisting of leaders. In addition, discover the Internet
and design a club Web site. One of your members may be a talented
Webmaster, or your club could do a trade-out with a professional.
Go "Online"
Take advantage of e-mail and Web sites to spread the word
about your Sertoma club. Meeting notices, minutes and general
updates can be e-mailed to your club members, prospective
members and important community leaders with the click of
a button. Check with your local Chamber of Commerce or media
to see if they will post your club's "banner ad"
on their Web site(s) or if they have a "Community Calendar"
to post nonprofit activities of interest to community members.
Advertising
Advertising was once considered taboo for nonprofits but is
now gaining in popularity for clubs that can afford it. Seek
special rates for civic organizations. Approach advertising
very carefully, and seek volunteer assistance and expertise.
Community-minded merchants, including pizza deliveries, may
include your message in their advertising. You might also
consider working with other clubs in your area for a special
newspaper insert.
Printing
Printing could be an expensive budget item for your club.

Partnerships
Joining together with other Sertoma clubs in your area may
significantly enhance the impact of your charitable endeavors.
This will create a larger volunteer pool, the chance to reach
more people and to raise more funds - and will increase the
probability of receiving publicity.
Always check the Sertoma Web site, www.sertoma.org, for current
info and sample press releases.
